Improving 200+ Grassroots NGOs' MEL Platform
Dhwani Foundation partnered with 10x Impact Labs to enhance the Goonjan MIS platform used by over 200 grassroots NGOs across India. The NGOs using the platform covered domains of Disability, Education, social protection, Livelihoods and Health. This collaboration involved a comprehensive assessment of the current system, user engagement through surveys, interviews, and field visits, and a gap analysis to identify areas for improvement. The resulting recommendations included a user interface redesign, feature enhancements, performance optimizations, and a robust training and support program. The foundation went on to implement 3 out of the 4 key recommendations and saw significant improvement of their product impact and usage.

Goonjan was widely deployed but struggled with usability, performance and adoption, limiting NGOs' ability to capture, analyse and act on data for evidence-based decisions at scale.
A 4-consultant team conducted 15 in-depth NGO interviews, a quantitative survey of 96 staff, field visits across 5+ locations, and a structured gap analysis covering UI, features and platform performance.
Impact assessment and user feedback report, prioritised gap analysis, UI redesign and feature recommendations, and platform performance optimisations.
The proposed enhancements equip 200+ grassroots NGOs to monitor and evaluate programs more efficiently across sectors, enabling better data-driven decisions and improved program outcomes.
